I found a set of gold blanks when I was working at a GM parts counter. They were the same style as my 72 Skylark keys, so now I have a set of gold Caddy keys for my Buick.

I was just remembering the two-key set up: square for ignition, round for doors and trunk. But, yeah,
GOLD
. A daily reminder of how much money you spent on your car.

I was too young to remember any of that. These were to the car that my grandparents drove 15 years ago. It ended up getting stolen along with their Buick.
They refused to admit they lived in a bad neighborhood, though.

If you’ve had two cars stolen from your front yard, you might be in the hood.
We were a Chevy family when I was young, so I remember it well. I learned to drive in our 1981 Caprice (might have been an ‘82).

Nothing says security like a resistor in your key. Not a transistor. Not a transponder, no... A resistor.

My Fleetwood came with those. By the time I got it, most of the gold had worn off, except in the recessed areas. I think Cadillac also called their roadside assistance package “Gold Key” or something at the time. There was a big gold key logo on the owners’ literature.
